Well it looks like Orrell are going to make it through the season so what about next season and more importantly beyond..........we now know the plan for next season (playing at John Rigby etc)...........beyond that?.........we need to start plannning and working now towards securing a new ground and club house and building the club up (from the junior section up) and whilst the club may never reach the dizzy heights of yesteryear there is no reason why it cannot again be one of the leading clubs in the north west!!

seems a bit silly playing at john rigby concidering us the colts have had numerous games called of there due to the conditions of the pitchs hope it gets sorted out. on the the other hand think its good if they r at sjr nxt season because the club will still be in the local area!

We will be playing in South Lancs/cheshire 2 I believe. The same league th'anvils were in last season. Can't wait for next season

Same league th'anvils were in and dropped out of this season. So in all fairness Orrell should either go into North 1 or drop to the bottom and start again.
No one else is allowed to just pick the league they think they should be in so they get an easy season

I personally think it is about time we got a favour from the RFU they know the trouble we've been in since DW left us but they have done nothing. I see all the time on the RFU website them giving grants to plenty of clubs but one of the most famous clubs in the north west is left to rot. Doesn't make sense to be honest so I think this small favour of letting us drop down a few league to help us rebuild and hopefully one day return to national rugby is acceptable and is certainly the least they could of done.

Grants are given to clubs who prove they can raise part of the money themselves and spend it reponsibly. It would be stupid to give cash to clubs who appear to be spending what they have badly. I think RFU funding should go to the grassroots. Big name clubs with professional players and management shouldn't need financial help

Pricey as an amateur club there should be more grants/funding available to the club. As for SLC2 why come on to this site when all you want to do is cause trouble? You know nothing about the facts in this case so why don't you get lost!!

Not trying to cause trouble just point out how inequitable it is that Orrell have been allowed to choose which league they want to be in? I know both Orrell clubs would have been relegated this year and neither would have been at level 8 which is the level you seem to have been allowed to go into. I know this affects promotion and relegation of other clubs in the area who haven't been paying players this year and they deserve better. I know Orrell have been paying players with no commitment to the club, who they brought in from level 8 clubs and low and behold look where that got you!!!
I'm genuinely sorry that Orrell are in a bad way but it seems to me its due to bad decisions which allowed other people to be in a position to screw you over. None of what has happened is the fault of the RFU or other local clubs so why should they be forced to make way for you just because you are ORRELL?
Why is it when you try and enter into a reasoned debate and give an alternative point of view people always tell you to clear off? Are you that intimidated by me?

Haha what is funny SLC is that more clubs will BENEFIT from us dropping down the leagues, so shut it and let us be positive about the future

ISN'T IT NICE WHEN ONE OF THE MODERATORS IS PUTTING POSTS ON LIKE THIS ONE AFTER HAVING ONE REMOVED FROM THE TOSSAS SITE DONT EMBARRASS THE CLUB KEEP POSITIVE AND KEEP THESE KIND OF POSTS OFF HERE OR THE SITE WILL ONCE AGAIN BECOME CHILDISH who knows what the future holds but if it's gonna work then we all know it's got to be with the anvils until the name Orrell can once again be used and even then we will be relying on other people to bring it back lets just hope we will still have a rugby union club in Orrell in 12 months whether it be the anvils or anyone else willing to keep the game going in our area

Haha what is funny SLC is that more clubs will BENEFIT from us dropping down the leagues, so shut it and let us be positive about the future No they won't! Firstly you are assuming that being in higher leagues benfits any club - if that were the case surely Orrell would want to stay in North 1 not drop lower? Secondly it makes a mockery of the entire league structure and promotion and relegation. Are you now Orrell or Orrell Anvills? Pick one and assume that clubs rightful place in the league structure!

OK then, the Anvils were in SLC2 until they had to drop out due to them not being able to field a team. We proved we earned a place in that league as an amateur team after many successful seasons there, so in my opinion we should be allowed to go back there.
We will at some point return to Orrell RUFC, dropping the Anvils name. This will happen once the semi-professional club clears its debts.
And Keith - I still don't agree with any of the Anvils plans, they are selfish and not for the good of rugby in the long-term. However, having spoken to numerous Orrell lads who are determined to fight for the clubs cause next season, I wish to give them - not the Anvil committee - as much support as I can.

Joe
After doing such a good job over the years I can see that you are getting disillusioned this happened to me years ago but like you I still have a lot of feelings for the club. Tony made it clear at the meeting that Orrell would not be carrying on this only leaves the Anvils plan for the future. I would have much proffered Orrell to go amateur in their own right but this ain't happening . As you have stated in the past it worries me that as long as John rigby is the best any rugby union club has got then their is no way forward. Let us just hope a ground is found some kind of club is built ant the Orrell name is once more brought to the fore but if it happens will it not be I told you so and the anvils wanting to keep their name.. If at any time in the future Orrell rises again with their own ground I am sure with the likes of me and you and a few of the other Orrell people can get it back the problem in the past few years has been that the club has been run very poorly even after Saturdays well supported match nobody has come on here to let us know what was achieved only the coach and helpers. only Jim LLoyd from the exec has ever put anything about the club on this site. This is the first year I have been a member of the Anvils and that is only to keep rugby in Orrell cannot stand the thought of rugby league being the only sport in this area have you seen how the parents behave on the touchline
