Can someone please let us know did Orrell clear their debts will the anvils be the anvils or Orrell , is the junior and colts going to be part of the new set up if not where do the players go when finishing in colts rugby direction is what is needed and six months down the line will not help anyone if there is nowhere to go then the two teams mentioned above will benefit in the long run and not the Orrell area as you state two clubs withgood facilities ,how long before any Orrell team can say that. if you want to get the mini's going again set up some coaches and let us do some in school tag again it brought plenty of new kids in before I am willing to go into schools with a coach and as before I will organise the sessions with the schools for you unfortunately I cannot coach so would need someone to come in with me. the last time we organised a school comp finishing at edgehall road and numbers increased tremendously this was done with Laura and the Wigan development help. the kids only drifted due to lack of facilities and coaches.

So basically still no consensus! except that the league structure will be out in June.
Streboard - If there is a good colts set up there you just keep going as you are. Either as Orrell, Anvills or a new club. When the lads become eligable for open age rugby if you are with orrell or anvills there will be a first team, if you are on you own you apply to enter the leagues as a new team.
Tarleton did something similar very successfully

It would be very unlikely that the RFUNCC would allow Orrell or the Anvils back into SLC2, for starters Southport and Liverpool Collegiate won Promotion to SLC2 and therefore make that league back up 12 teams, while St.Edwards where relegated along with the Anvils record being expunged. If the "Orrell" club relegated to North 1 have/will resign or no longer wish to compete at that level then the RFUNCC will place them at the botton of the league structure as would the Anvils if they applied to rejoin.

That really doesnt matter the main thing is that Orrell has rugby union at whatever level for the young players to aspire to the only problem I see is the lower you are the harder to put a team together without your own facilities but that is for whichever exec is in charge to worry about not the youngsters

To the earlier poster called "Guest" and the more recent fellow called "intheknow" all I will say is that if you wish to present opinions on here and be taken seriously then need to register properly on this site so we know who you are. Otherwise it will naturally be assumed that you are merely trolls, with no knowledge of what you are talking about, just trying to stir things up.
The only people who know for sure about the debts that may or may not remain are the Orrell 2005 Exec. I understand that the merger - which I believe will go ahead - is dependant on ORUFC having cleared any debts.
The Colts and Juniors will feed into whichever senior club is still in Orrell. For those youngsters that stay in Orrell after they have left school/college, it probably doesn't really matter what the club's name is as long as it is an Orrell Club.
We'll leave decisions about the name of the joint club to the exec, and the members, and decisions about the level at which the club play to the RFU.
Oh... and thanks to Keith for his offer of Help!
If all those stirrers helped out, rather than stirring, then we might all be in a better situation.

Just found this on the MEN website. Was anyone else aware?
"ORRELL have withdrawn from the English Clubs Championship following their relegation to North One, and will now cease to play competitive rugby.
Orrell Anvils have successfully re-applied to join the Championship, and will play in the North Lancashire leg of the Northern Division in 2007/2008."

Anvils have applied to RFUNCC to join North Lancs.2. Shrewd move, less promotions to climb back up as per the South Lancs. route.

Having been extremely sceptical, and not a little angry, about the Anvils intentions when they declared their intentions whilst the Orrell 2005 club was still playing it's matches I am now prepared to support them now it's clear that there is no alternative and they have the blessing of the "old" club. However I am finding it as frustrating as it was last season to glean any information about plans etc.for the immediate future.Knowing that communication was one of the biggest criticisms of the old exec. cttee. I would have thought and hoped that this aspect of club m,anagement would be top of their list of prorities? For the life of me I don't know why they don't take over this website or the Tosas boards and use them as a ready made tool to keep all interested parties up to speed. Like others I understand that they will play in North Lancs 2 next year but I have yet to hear it from an official source.

Folks, I have just read right through this blog and as a long time supporter of Orrell resident in Sydney for nearly 20 years now I was very disappointed to learn of the fall of Orrell, but am very heartened to know that there is this much passion still surrounding this great club. With this much energy, I'm sure things will get better, but I do agree that it would be good if there were a little more official communication. I applaud the FACT and OPINION entries - makes things a littel clearer. Keep up the passion!
