As we're coming to the end of the club's history at EHR, I thought it would be good to have a thread on everyone's favourite memories at the ground.
My favourite game as a spectator was when we beat Bath (10-9, I think it was). A long miss pass from Martin Strett ended with Nigel Heslop skinning the winger and scorching in at the scoreboard corner. I also remember Gerry Aniscough kicking a last minute penalty from the half way line to beat Harlequins.
I had the fortune to play on the first team pitch many times also. Favourite game being in April 1991 when I was with the Orrell U/16's and we beat Waterloo in the Lancashire Cup Final , retaining the trophy we'd won the previous year at U/15's. Don't remember too much (not even the score!) but I do know there was a gale force wind blowing and quite a large crowd in attendance.

I spent many Saturday afternoons as a small child in the seventies watching my dad play at Edge Hall Road. In the nineties too I watched my little brother play at junior level. I was devastated to hear that the clubhouse had burnt down and even more so that the Monster Whelan had virtually eradicated what was once such a mighty club. Has anyone considered sueing him ? Hope the last game(s) went well and that a way can be found to ressurect what was once by far the finest rugby club in Lancashire. When Orrell first came to real prominance it was the dedication and hard work of the players and commitee that got them there, it wasn't about money then, it was about some very fit, very focused amateurs turning the tables on the southerners who had dominated the game.
Could anyone dream that one day this spirit could be achieved again ?
Rally the youngsters, make sure they know the history and for God's sake keep them well clear of Wigan Warriors !
