Challenge Cup Round 7
Match Report to follow.........
This is the U16's final challenge cup league league match. We currently stand 5th in the table 1 point above Heaton Moor, a win for them will take them to 5th while a win for us depending on the Broughton Park result could take us into 4th.
While in 5th place we will be entered into a playoff, probably against Bolton or Bury for the Vase Trophy. If we move into 4th we will be automatically entered into the Vase Trophy. If we fall back to 6th or lose the play-off against Bolton we will be entered into the final of the Bowl Trophy, against 6th place or the play-off loser, whichever we dont occupy.
So all in all this is one of the most important matches of our season, I would encourage the players to get down as many registered players for the match and also to anyone involved to muster as much support as possible.

A disappointing match all round after a promising extended warm up due to pitch shortages. Everyone seemed fired up for this match but the usual issues occured after the first 5 minutes. It seems that no matter what is coached and developed in training goes out of the window as soon as the players cross the white-wash. The players had proved during the warm-up that they can execute the basics and our set plays well but this doesnt happen during a match.
Another real disappointment for me was the indiscipline that crept into the game. Some players were frustrated with the referee and at times even we raised a few eyebrows at some decisions but as a player you need to deal with it and adapt to how the referee is dictating the play.
We are scheduled to play Heaton Moor again next Sunday so with the pressure of the cup out of their minds it will be interesting to see how the players react to this defeat.

Joe,
Not too sure on the final score but officially it was 30-0 to Heaton Moor (cup rules dont allow publishing of scores with a spread greater than 30). It was disappointing, the lads can play at a much higher level than they did, at times we had some excellent breaks which if support was there and players didnt go to ground so easily could have been converted into tries.
Watch this space though as we are into the final of the Bowl, probably to play Heaton Moor again so we'll see how well we've improved before then.
