Can someone please tell me what is happening with the juniors on the lancashire website it seems that the under thirtenns concede every cup game I have not seen any under 14s 16s sides play this season the junior and senior colts are playing regularly and your under 15s have been a pleasure to watch on the few occasions they have been at home . this does not bode well for next season when you will only have sebior colts and sixteens What is being done to build these sqads as obviously the school training sessions are not working

I can only speak for the Under 15s but it is hard to get lads down to play rugby union it is mostly done with lads in the team bringing mates down so if there is no team theres no one to bring mates down so its very hard to start a team from scratch. There are some under sixteens and some under fourteens playing at other age groups but not enough to start a team and to take them out of the group they play in leaves that team severely depleted but the lads who come down to play at U15s just want to play rugby under the Orrell badge not be involved in the politics of it all but it is worrying that we may lose some of our better players when they reach junior and senior colt level.

you are 100 % spot on with your comments colin .I raised these points a number of months ago and was told everything is in order and progressing well on the junior recruitment front. I said at the time that most kids in the wigan borough (outside of orrell) didnt know we have a junior section and i stand by that. it would be intresting to know how many kids we have registered with us living or attending schools in worsley mesnes, worsley hall, newtown, marsh green and pemberton i would guess its very few. im sure these are areas we can tap into?

Well said M houghton looking at your team list it appears your the captain of the under 15s and with your mature attitude I can see why. I now know why you dont get involved in the politics as obviously your all left to find your own players according to colin Grant. this is a very sad situation as in the past the LOCAL schools and areas where the ones targeted. why have the shops no posters in , only the paper shop at OrrellPost has a poster could it be that your playing facilities are not attracting players , how do you like rugby traing on astroturf. It is a sad state of affairs when i walk the dog to watch Orrell kids play rugby union on a sunday I have to end up watching rugby league at john rigby as there is rarely a union match on the grass pitches. For over 20 year I have watched the kids at Edgehall road and the college but it seems that the decrease in union in the area could continue . Will be checking on your play m houghton on sundays and good luck in the future you have some good prospects in that team of yours

Its nice to see we have some support out there and you would be surprised at the mature attitude of all the lads in the under 15s team. They have been brought together and have all bond well as a team as-well as friends and lads in the team cover quite an area from shevington, skem, lydiate as well as local lads from Orrell and Upholland.Hopefully in the new year the majority of our games will be home games as believe it or not there are supposed to be an equal number. Also barring an unprecedented disaster we should finish to of our group in the EFE Cup allowing us to play our cup games at home. So i as manager believe we will at some point be able to match some of the better teams at our age group and even beat them.We have the please of having some of the first team coming down on Wednesday nights to help with individual coaching for the backs and forwards so that can only help improve things, as Sundays match with Liverpool Collegiate showed.I hope they show the same sort of determination when we play Ormskirk on the 7th Jan.Hope you will be there to see us perform in the new year as we need al the support we can get.
