Today we travelled to Tarleton to play games against Tarleton and Waterloo.
First up were Tarleton. When the teams met in November Tarleton had beaten Orrell. Today the Under 11s got off to a flying start scoring twice in the opening minutes. Tarleton came back to pull back a try before the end of the first half. Early in the second half Orrell went over again to lead 18 - 7. Tarleton then came back into the game with two tries to lead 18-21. Orrell continued to play well and in the end got a well deserved try to win the game 25-21. A great all round performance with some great runs by the forwards.
With just 5 minutes rest Orrell were back on the pitch to face Waterloo. Waterloo have a very strong Under 11s team and they had much the better of the first half scoring 6 tries without a reply. The second half saw Orrell continue to battle and it was much closer game and whilst Waterloo scored 2 more tries Orrell went over to score just before the end.
Even though they lost against Waterloo the Under 11s continue to improve and were well worth the victory against Tarleton. Well played Under 11s and keep up the good work.
The Under 11s have shown great determination this season. Early on in the season they suffered a number of defeats (some very heavy). The team never gave up. They continued to work hard and showed a great team spirit. The reward has been much improved performances and three wins since the New Year. So come on committee let the Under 11s have a match at EHR before the final match on 21 April - they have done the club proud this season and deserve the chance to play at least once at ENR!!
