Its been a while since the U14s last played owing to a number of cancellations and the Christmas period so it was a relief to finally take to the field again.
I think the story of this match was one of backs to the wall, a bruising encounter for the forwards and a fairly fruitless one for the backs.
Any areas for development are between us and the lads so I will focus on the positives from this match. Once again a number of lads were playing in new positions of which Steve definately stood out. Playing his first game at Scrum half he took well to the role, evident in the percentage of successfully recycled ball. Some technical guidance from the referee on put-ins was required but the forwards won over 90% of their own scrums. In fact all the set-pieces were good during this match, lineouts functioning well and tactical kicking being used effectively.
As mentioned before this was a very defensive game and the score line could have been double had it not been for some heroic defending on and near the line, Dean, Tom, Connor and Rob all performing try-saving tackles. Connor and Rob were 2 of the stand-out performers in this game, showing some excellent passion (need to tone it down sometimes Rob!!!) and commitment.
