I'd just like to say a huge thanks to everyone who helped out at today's match. All the Volunteers and helpers who certainly helped to make today a success...of the field anyway.

I can't comment on the match itself as I didn't see any of it but everyone who helped out at the bar, the merchandise stall, the BBQ, the pie oven, etc. helped make today an overall success.

Thanks also to Andrea Chudleigh and her friend (sorry I don't think we were formally introduced, so I didn't catch your name) for their help during the afternoon and also for the provision of the players after match meal at the Cricket Club. Great chilli ;D

Thanks also to the guys, who despite having been around all afternoon, stayed behind to help clear up afterwards and take down the covered areas and lug a load of gear over to Walters garage.

Thanks to Walter & Mrs Walter for the loan of their garage as storage space.

Thanks to The Chapster for almost breaking his car by carrying well more than it's maximum load in order to get today off the ground at all

Thanks to big Danny (aka Manic) for all his efforts this week. I'd hate to be paying your mobile bill.....or mine come to that

And finally, thanks to Asda for doing a great Merlot at only £2.78 per bottle, which has helped to numb the aching in my feet and the stinging in my eyes from the frying onions & BBQ smoke (although Bob breathed in most of that today...great effort Bob, thanks)

One more....thanks to the 1904 bakehouse at Orrell Post for continuing to make the best pies in the world, which went down a treat ;D

Hope to see you all next week at Preston or in 2 weeks back at "The Marquee" ;D

Hi Jon,

The tents were an excellent idea - gave the match more of a sense of occassion, and clearly showed that there are people who care about putting on an event on Match Day.

We nearly had a couple of fellows escape to the shop because they didn't realise there was beer being served anywhere - so maybe some signs pointing the way from the gate would help.

If we can do this much on someone else's ground then how well are we going to do when we get our own?

Sorry I didn't stick around to help out after the match - I will be there earlier at the next one to give more of a hand at the start.

I'll echo the thanks to all those who missed the match because you were volunteering. It'll be someone else's turn to miss the match next time!

Also I liked the posters that were attached to lamp posts in Orrell - nice touch, added to the sense of occassion.

There was at least as much effort form the Team on the pitch - just a shame about the result.

On behalf of the Executive Committee I would like to say a big thank you to every volunteer on Saturday for making Tent Village such a great success. These thanks are very heart felt. Without the volunteers there would have been nothing for the tremendous supporters to have enjoyed off the field.

Tent Village will be larger and better for the next home match against Tynedale. We have bought an awning to increase the covered area and some Optics for Janet Walker to operate at the Happy Chappers Bar.

The menu offered in the Sloop Jon B-B-Q zone will be slightly improved as we will now cook mushy peas and baked beans for the pies (if I remember to bring the tin opener this time!).

Many thanks to the supporters for your attendance and the Exec. Committee look forward to seeing you on the 14th.

The Station Hotel on 14th will be our Clubhouse before and after the game. Lyn and Ben wish to welcome all from the club. Please come and talk to players after the match in the Station.

Many thanks to all you Orrell boys from an Ionian too, I had a fantastic day out enjoing the local cuisine! It really is hard to stomach what Whelan and Lindsey have done to you but I hope for the entire game's sake you pull through and prosper once more, even if that just means staying in this league.

Special thanks to Jim Lloyd and the young chap running the barbeque all day, I hope you got a few pints for your troubles mate!

All the best for the season & look forward to entertaining you at Brantingham Park soon!

Following the huge off field success at the weekend, it is our intention to make our next home game against Tynedale on the 14th October even better

To help with this we need a few volunteers to help set things up well before kick off. Preferably we need local people (so that they can return home for a bit before kick off if they want to) who can come and help erect the tented area and set up the BBQ, shop and drinks area. The more people we get, the quicker it will be.

I would suggest we meet at the club at around 11.30am.

We also will need people to volunteer to stay behind for a short time after the game to help pack things away.
