Any chance we can have a suggestions forum, to submit our ideas for the improvement of the club, I know some won't be feasable but at least they will all be together.
My first one is that we sort the fence out at the top of EHR, it just needs some marine ply attaching to the existing fence to provide a flat surface. This is the closest a lot of people get to Orrell rugby and we could get a lot of info on it. I have managed to put up the banner for Saturdays game but it was a struggle.

Dan, I reckon they're fine ideas, both the suggestions forum and the improvements to the fence at the top of EHR. I've thought before that if I stick any more pins in there it's just going to disintegrate. Does anyone work for a timber company or have access to marine ply? If not, I agree it could be a worthwhile investment. PS - Any forthcoming suggestions may well need an accompanying method of raising capital if required

I have been looking at that fence and old sign for some time too and you are right - something needs to be done to it.
The only thing that worries me about doing anything to it is that I am sure it isn't ours. My guess is that it either belongs to the council, or Network Rail (or whoever owns the railways these days).
So our choice is either...
Do something without permission and run the risk of being told to undo it.
or...
Ask for permission and then get told that we shouldn't have anything on there anyway and lose what little signage we have.
...if anyone knows better than me then I'd be glad to hear it.
As far as getting materials is concerned - we could ask Holland's of Upholland if they are willing to donate (for a bit of free advertising) - or Savoy Timber - or theres an excellent place near Appley Bridge which I can't remember the name of.
I'd be happy to help build the thing.
