Please tell me what I am missing? I understood that the "club" was being "handed back to the members" - Lindsay's words. I knew this was at a price and we would struggle to survive but at least we had a pitch to play on for at least 5 years and a purpose built new clubhouse. What baffles me is this current ludicrous situation whereby we cannot get access to the clubhouse. What has happened to the lease that allows us full use of the club? I know Lindsay would be a happy man if Orrell RUFC went out of business but I must ask, in the absence of any first hand information, are we challenging him enough on this and other matters? We used to say we had better keep a low profile and not rock the boat etc. but what boat is there going to be left to rock? I suggest we expose his actions to the local and national press and get the public on our side. After all we are not asking for something that we are not entitled to, are we? The club is put in an impossible situation and by meekly accepting these bullying tactics and remaining silent gives this vitriolic individual licence to trample us underfoot. Maybe we are fighting back for our just desserts but it all seems one way at present? Am I alone in believing we have nothing to lose by embarrassing ( if it possible) Lindsay in the media?

George, You're certainly not alone in your thoughts. I don't know what talks are taking place at the moment between the Committee & ML/DW with regards to the club but I know the Committee will be doing everything they can (if they can actually get to speak to the two individuals). I would like nothing more than to do as you suggest, particularly as I see certain people being hailed as hero's on the front page of the local rag and receiving all sorts of awards from Wigan Borough, when there are hundreds (if not thousands) of people who have seen a different (or is it the real?) side of the individual. And that's not just people involved in Orrell RUFC!! We could learn a lot from his personal promotion people, if they can make him look like a hero, we could draw millions into the club in sponsorship and would draw crowds of thousands I do however believe that we have to back any decisions made by our Committee in this regard as they are the one's party to discussions. Although I agree.....it is extremely frustrating. PS - Any comments made by individuals in this forum are of course independant personal opinions of those individuals and do not necessarily represent any thoughts or feelings of Orrell RUFC or Committee members.

is there no chance left of the club buying the ground back from wigan if we dont have the money is there no chance of getting a loan to buy the ground back coz wigan dont even use it so i cant see the reason they would want to have to ground if they never use it. it also doesnt make sense them not opening the club house on match days thats how money is made in there. i hope this issue can be addressed sooner rather than later

I believe Tony P. has yet another meeting arranged with DW/ML soon to discuss, yet again, this matter. As mentioned on the TOSAS site, whilst the officials of the club still have to deal with these gentlemen they obviously can't become embroiled in some kind of campaign against them, but there is nothing to stop any individual or collection of like-minded people from writing letters to the local press expressing their feelings. All I would say, as before, is remember the libel laws.

I feel the must be some sort of action taken to sort this problem out it was the only thing that spoilt a uplifting on saturday the team looked like they were gelin the colts look outstanding for the future, the support was there but no club house for us to go for a well deserved drink as i'm sure we couldnt use the cricket ground for the rest of the season. i think even if its just the TOSAS that expose these self minded business men it would help people realise what these people are like. its sicking to hear all the praise both DW/ML receive.
i would also like to mention how great the orrell web site is has to be the best one the clubs had

What a nice gesture it would be if DW, after recieving his Civic Accolade, was to give the Clubhouse back. Even if we had to pay a percentage of our takings instead of a franchise.
Given that the Wigan Under 18's & 21's play there, this would also benfit the people who so faithfully follow their own code in the bad weather, with no catering or drinks etc. There could even be two accounts so that our finances did not get mixed up with theirs. It's not rocket science.
WHY NO CLUBHOUSE? THE TRUTH IS OUT THERE!!

I have read the increasingly improving web site and messages with great interest over the recent weeks and am impressed by the "never say die" attitude of the "faithful".
Don't let the b@stards grind you down. Whelan & Lindsay may try to beat you but Orrell must stay because like us and 'Hoppers, you are the spine of Lancashire Rugby.
I am sure I speak for all at Fylde in wishing you all the very best for this season and, the matches against Fylde aside, sincerely hope and pray that you win more than you lose to consolidate in this league to allow your excellent Colts the chance to develop and grow in National League Rugby.
Good luck

Ric, Thanks very much for your kind words of support. I couldn't agree more that we three teams form the backbone of Lancashire rugby and I can assure you that we will be doing everything we can to survive AND PROSPER this season and the seasons ahead. It is being made increasingly difficult though by, what seems like certain peoples desires to not just see us fail, but to play an instrumental part in forcing us down that road. Unfortunately those certain people hold certain positions of power which gives them the ability to make life for Orrell very hard. This however only has the effect of strengthening clubs & fans resolve to succeed and will make our survival even sweeter and our club even stronger at the end of the day. We look forward to meeting you on the 2nd December and wish you and Fylde a prosperous and successful season (apart from on our two encounters that is ). Thanks again.

James, without divulging too much info things aren't looking great right now. We had an 'encouraging' meeting with Whelan although he seemed to forget what he had said later on and therefore changed his mind on certain things. Rick - your words are much appreciated. I've said for a long time how much I'd love to see us become a club like Fylde and hopefully, with consolidation this season, we can go someway to achieving this. I must ask though, can we have John Armstrong back please?

Joe if you are privy to inside information from the highest level over the use of the Clubhouse, when will this be divulged to the Members? At the extraordinary meeting one would hope. In the nicest way possible, and with the best will in the world, we are all in this together, period. I would hope that little areas of elitism are not developing. Shutty

Shutty, believe me I know how frustrating it is not knowing information. I am privvy to most information but obviously cannot divulge it, and that's at the request of the committee.
Hopefully all will become clear at the SGM on Wednesday!

I hope the club will get the use of the clubhouse this season it was great to be able to watch the lads play from indoors on cold and wet days. Is there any update if we will be able to use it this season?
