The above meeting will be one of the most important that we've had for a few years in deciding the future of ORUFC. All members should, by now, have had notification from Sue regarding this. The meeting is open to all, not just current members, and all will be entitled to have their say. There will be a vote, which will only be open to current members, on the future path our club should take. The entire future of our club depends upon this vote so I cannot stress enough the importance of your attendance whichever way you chose to cast your vote. If you're not there you lose your right to moan, just as in any other democracy!

Paul, I agree that this meeting is the most important in recent times and I seriously hope that as many people as possible will attend and things can be sorted out once and for all, then all those who care about the club can get on with the serious issues of rugby and survival. I have no doubt whatsoever that the way forward will be sorted out on the night, leaving us to concentrate on the future. In the meantime lets all support the team in the two matches we have before then and show the others in 3N that we mean business

Regarding membership.....does this include players?
I havent received any notification regarding any membership or any meetings.
Does this mean im a member or not.......and therefore, have I a right to vote (or not)?
Confused?

Turbo, Everyone is welcome at the meeting. As to whether players are classed as members and are therefore eligible to vote....well that's a damn good question and one best raised with the Committee and/or Chris C. All the best for tomorrow. I'll be there again with my lad shouting myself hoarse but trying not to drink as much during the match as I had at Kendal. That Joe's a bad influence I wouldn't mind downing a few to celebrate a win for us though ;D COME ON ORRELL !!!

The meeting is about two matters, and here I'm partly quoting Tony Pegg's letter to members:-
Approval of the annual accounts to period ended 31st May 2006.
'A discussion and debate over whether Orrell RUFC is best served as a semi-professional or a purely amateur rugby club. There are strong differences of opinion inside and outside the club as to how the club should be run and the type of rugby club we should aspire to be.
'Accordingly, although we have only written to members and only members will be allowed to vote at the meeting, we will be inviting anybody who has an interest in the future of ORUFC to attend including former members, former players and supporters. Please pass this message on to anyone you know who may be interested in attending'.
The information I have is that those members permitted to vote will have to have been senior (ie. over 18) members for the 2005/6 season. Those who have had time to join for the current season will also be eligible. This includes playing members (providing you paid your subs!), whether it be 1stXV or Anvils.
You don't have to be a member to come along and have your say in the debate.
Everyone will also be brought up to date with the latest developments re. EHR, clubhouse etc.

The above was written in my capacity as Information Officer.
Speaking personally I think that all managers, coaches etc from the Junior/Colts section should be allowed to vote as the future direction of the club affects them and their charges as much, if not more, than many.
I also hope that as many of the current players will attend as possible, whatever level you play at. Even if you can't vote you can find out what's going on and state your views.
